A parasitic fungus makes ants climb and bite leaves before dying
Certain Ophiocordyceps fungi infect ants and alter their behavior. An infected ant may climb vegetation and clamp its jaws onto a leaf or stem, positioning its body where the fungus can grow and release spores. The fungus effectively manipulates the host's final movements to improve its own chances of reproduction.
