An inscription mentions a “house of David”
The Tel Dan stele is an Aramaic inscription from the late ninth or early eighth century BCE. Its mention of a “house of David” suggests the David tradition predates the late sixth century BCE, but does not establish the Bible’s placement of David and Solomon in the tenth century BCE.
