A forged letter was used against Labour

Days before Britain’s 1924 general election, a letter falsely presented as coming from Soviet official Grigory Zinoviev was leaked by MI6 and used against the Labour government. It remains unclear whether MI6 knew the letter was forged when it leaked it.

Switzerland consumes far more ecological resources than its land can supply

Early factories powered by waterwheels had to be located near rivers with suitable flows. Steam engines fueled by coal allowed manufacturers to generate mechanical power in many more places. Factories could move closer to workers, customers and transport networks, helping reshape the geography of industrial cities.
