Entangled particles can break a limit on local explanations
Bell’s inequality sets a limit on what theories based only on local hidden causes can predict. Quantum mechanics predicts that entangled particles can break that limit. Any hidden-variable explanation that matches those predictions therefore cannot also remain local.
