The Antarctic ozone hole can change temperatures far below it
Ozone depletion cools parts of the stratosphere above Antarctica and can strengthen the circulation of winds around the continent. Those atmospheric changes influence winds and temperatures nearer the surface, with different effects across Antarctic regions. Ozone loss therefore affects more than ultraviolet radiation: it can reshape regional climate patterns, although its effects interact with greenhouse warming.
