Across lizards, limbless or reduced-limb body forms evolved separately at least 25 times. A snake-like shape alone therefore does not show that a lizard is closely related to snakes.

In the wreck of the bulk carrier MV Derbyshire, analysts estimated that pressure on the deck hatches matched the pressure from a 20-metre column of water. The hatches were designed for less than 2 metres, showing how pressure at a vulnerable opening can exceed what it was built to withstand.
