How paper made books portable in early China

France's 1791 constitution spoke about liberty but allowed only men with enough property to vote or hold public office. Later revolutionary governments also punished some political speech. Political freedom remained limited even during a revolution built around liberty.

By slowing spoilage, refrigeration made it possible to move meat, seafood, fruit, and vegetables over much longer distances. Food could come from fewer and more distant farms and fisheries while consumers gained access to a wider variety of products.
