The Incas may have written stories in knots

Quipu are bundles of knotted cords known to have stored numbers and administrative records. But some evidence suggests certain quipu also encoded history or literature. Because the system can no longer be fully read, part of the Inca written record may still be sitting undeciphered in strings and knots.
