Neutrinos escape the Sun in seconds
Neutrinos made by fusion reactions in the Sun’s core reach its surface in about 2.3 seconds. Light from the same reactions takes an estimated 10,000–170,000 years, because it is repeatedly absorbed and re-emitted on the way out.
