Egyptian hieroglyphs influenced Proto-Sinaitic writing, which developed into the Phoenician alphabet. Phoenician led to Greek, while related writing traditions led to Aramaic. Greek later gave rise to Latin and Cyrillic, and writing based on Aramaic developed into forms including Syriac and Arabic.
