The oldest musical instruments may have disappeared
Archaeologists are much more likely to find ancient instruments made from bone or other materials that survive for thousands of years. Instruments made from wood, animal skin, and other materials may have rotted away. The oldest instruments we find may therefore not have been the first ones people made.
